Sugar and Spice by Jean Ure
The book I have just read is called Sugar and Spice. It is written by Jean Ure. The book is a book about a friendship.
In the story a new girl joins the class. Her name is shay sugar. She chooses to make friends with a girl in her class who is a nerd and has no friends. Shay keeps getting expensive gifts for this girl. It turns out she’s been stealing them. She tries to gets her friend in trouble, but she gets sent to prison herself.
My favourite part in the story is when the girl stands up to shay when she wants her to steal a CD. Shay tells the girl to steal the CD but she says no. I like this part because the girl finally stands up for herself instead of been push around. My favourite character is the girl who stands up to shay.i admire her because she has a lot of hassel and she finally stands up for herself. this makes me feel happy for her and she gets a rest from all her hard work.
i like this book . it was belivable and it felt as if i was there. i would recommend this book to girls between the age of 9-14 because it was quite hard to understand at points and it was a girlie book.

The floorboards creaked. sam was trying so hard not to scream. he let out a little squeak like a mouse. he heard footsteps. he squeaked again but this time louder. the footsteps were get closer. he hugged his blankie. then he felt a hand tugging on his leg.

He took his first step and plunged into darkness. Sam’s feet were trembling like an earthquake as he took the first few steps. His palms were sweaty as they clutched the wooden banister. He heard the noise again. Sam hesitated, but bravely continued. He’d seen the monsters in all the films, but they were just imaginary weren’t they? There were just a few more steps to go, when he slipped. He landed in a big gooey mess.

Sam hesitated at the top of the stairs, blinking sleepily in the darkness. The blackness below was absolute, there was no light at all. The light switch was out of reach, way back across the landing. There was the noise again. The rest of the house was silent. What was it?
